Oracle Discoverer 4.1

Oracle Discoverer is an end-user query, reporting, and analysis tool developed by Oracle Corporation. Long used with the Oracle Database and Oracle E-Business Suite, it enables business users to create ad hoc reports and analyze data without writing SQL. Administrators model a business-friendly semantic layer—called the End User Layer (EUL)—so users can navigate subject areas, drill through hierarchies, and build interactive workbooks and worksheets.

Key components and capabilities include:

• Discoverer Plus (web-based authoring) and Discoverer Desktop (Windows client) for creating reports
• Discoverer Viewer (browser-based) for running and sharing reports
• Discoverer Administrator for defining business areas, hierarchies, calculations, and security in the EUL
• Pivoting, drilling, charts, parameters, and conditions for interactive analysis
• Export to formats such as Excel, PDF, and HTML, plus scheduling and distribution options
• Integration options for Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle Portal

Oracle Discoverer has been deprecated and is now in Sustaining Support. Oracle recommends migrating to modern analytics and reporting platforms such as Oracle Analytics (Oracle Analytics Cloud or Oracle Analytics Server), Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE), and Oracle BI Publisher for forward-looking reporting and dashboarding needs.
